I’ve got all sorts of feelings as I write my annual letter about the state of Jackson River.
The biggest feeling, though, is gratitude. I am so thankful to be able to do this amazing work. I’m thankful for our clients who support us and push us to be better every day, for the deep relationships we’ve formed and the progress we’ve made together, and the sometimes missteps, sometimes unbearable joy, that we’ve shared. Our clients are soaring, and it’s inspiring to watch them succeed beyond their goals. They have big dreams and great ideas. To help them realize these dreams, we have to celebrate innovation, tackle the challenges as they come, and build cool stuff.
Our 7th year was another year of growth. While we’re not fans of rapid growth, we seek to grow our company as thoughtfully as we can, expanding the good work we get to do. Our primary growth is still from existing client referrals and valued partners -- the best kind of lead. New clients come in because they’ve heard about us from their friends, and new staff come in because they are recruited by our existing staff. I’m still a little shocked that we’ll turn 8 this spring with 30 staff in 16 states!
Springboard, our flagship fundraising and marketing product continues to grow - making great strides this year in both features as well as adoption. There are now 88 Springboard fundraising sites on our PCI compliant hosting environment, and 6 clients self-hosting their own Springboards. The Jackson River team continues to provide amazing support and invaluable consulting for all of our Springboard clients. We’re incredibly fortunate that our client list includes many of the largest and most influential organizations out there, including the ASPCA, US Fund for UNICEF, Special Olympics and NPR, all doing work that is aligned with Jackson River’s progressive values. A particular point of pride is that because Springboard is open source, it has been deployed out in the wild by others, too!
In 2015, our talented product team launched both a re-imagined Peer-to-Peer product and also an Advocacy suite, enabling our clients’ supporters to send direct letters to Congress and other decision-makers. This year saw our amazing clients rockin’ all of Springboard’s special features: sustainer upsell, marketing automation, behavioral marketing, deep analytics, incredibly flexible mobile and responsive user experiences, and awesome social integration. What they’ll do this year will undoubtedly surprise us all, including Social Advocacy, which is among the exciting highlights of the 2016 Springboard roadmap. Our website team built several large websites including Catholic Relief Services and ASPCA. Our consulting division helped many organizations with content strategy, technology strategy, organizational development, and executive coaching.
But most of all, I’m grateful for my colleagues. We have a group of committed and inspiring folks at this virtual company, and every morning I’m so excited to get online and see everyone. The strong, cohesive, and robust team we’ve built here at Jackson River feeds me every single day.
Running a virtual company is all about building a culture of authenticity, transparency, mutual support, respect and love. We’re all in it together to do the good work. We hold each other up. We gain skills, strength, and friendship from each other. Our culture is what I’m most proud of, and above all, I’m grateful to my co-workers for fearlessly bringing their whole selves to work, for being open, vulnerable, smart, and kind. The depths of their caring and dedication to their work, to our clients, and especially to each other is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I couldn’t ask for a better team.
And of course, there’s you guys, checking in on us on from near and far, following us along our crazy path and cheering on our bright future. 2016 is full of possibility. Let’s do something fun together.
With so much love,
