We're still recovering from an amazing week in New Orleans at the 2018 Nonprofit Technology Conference, where we were treated to our annual dose of time with new friends, folks we've known for years, and a ton of new learning opportunities—plus the chance to ring in 10 years of Jackson River!
Here are our top 5 highlights:
- The future is now!
In a session on digital-first technology, the ASPCA demo'ed voice donations through Amazon Alexa -- which got called an "NTC mic drop moment." We were thrilled to join them for this session. See the slides here.
- Omnichannel marketing, creating compelling supporter experiences, and a digital-first approach are the new name of the game.
We co-presented on these concepts with Media Matters' amazing Senior Advisor, Cynthia Padera. Check out the slides here.
- 10 Years of Jackson River
New Orleans is a great city for nonprofit technology conferences.... and to form a company, which we did at NTC New Orleans 2008. This year we celebrated with a massive birthday party, three sessions, and our usual booth. Follow us on Facebook to see photos from the whole NTC week and keep up with new nuggets of wonderful stuff.
- Springboard Users Unite
Springboard has a beautiful user community and a brand new user group! If you're curious, check out these pics from our inaugural Springboard Users Meetup.
- Productive Tension
We heard over and over that organizations are facing a tension between the push to offer hyper-personalized, omnichannel supporter journeys and the need for automated, mass-marketing approaches. Our take is that this is a productive tension—and that these methods are actually complementary, not contradictory. We'll be writing and speaking more on this topic in the months to come, so stay tuned!
If you were with us at NTC, welcome home, and thank you for celebrating with us!
If you have a question or want to talk shop on strategy or tech, feel free to start up a conversation with our CEO Alice.
And if you were cheering us on from afar, thanks for all of the love.
