Misty works with Jackson River’s clients to help them build their capacity with all things digital. Equal parts nonprofit coach, content strategist, and UX architect, she midwifes organizations through critical times of change.
Misty’s expertise lies in aligning content and marketing strategy with the needs of supporters, as well as marrying internal workflows with technology strategy in support of long-term organizational goals. As VP of Consulting, she helps organizations to promote Digital-First ways of thinking and working and assists with strategic marketing and thought leadership initiatives. In her role as faculty with the Nonprofit Technology Network’s Professional Certificate program, Misty also teaches courses to help nonprofit organizations become digital-first organizations. Her work is informed by more than 15 years working exclusively with nonprofits and NGOs of all shapes, sizes, and causes.
Prior to joining Jackson River, she spent 8 years founding and leading a user experience consulting practice at Convio, where she helped hundreds of organizations to better understand their audiences and create strategies targeted to their supporters’ needs. She has also lived on the inside of nonprofit digital teams as a content manager and digital strategist for several universities.
Misty holds a Master's degree in User Experience and Information Architecture, has chaired a tiny nonprofit board on a shoestring budget, and is also a writer, advocate for flexible work cultures and paid family leave, and the mother of two young sons.
