Jackson River

The four secrets of our success

Of the many great conversations I had at the last Nonprofit Technology Conference, the "how did you do it" question was the primary topic. I ran into so many people I've gotten to know over the dozen years that I've been in the nonprofit space, and almost all of them asked this question:  how did Jackson River grow a business on 100% referrals and an excellent reputation. My typical reply was that we have a really talented caring team, incredibly skilled developers, and put our hearts into everything we do.

BADCamp 2011 Wrap Up

Jackson River sponsored and subsequently exhibited at BADCamp, the Bay Area Drupal conference this past weekend. It was an exciting experience as we got to talk up Springboard, our new nonprofit Drupal distribution, to a variety of nonprofits and Drupal consultants.

I, technology consultant

When people ask me what I do, this is the answer I give them:  I'm a technology consultant for nonprofits.  This is usually followed by:

"Do you do fundraising consulting?"  No.

"Oh, so you do web design?" Er...no.

Why I hate your RFP

Before I begin – I certainly don’t mind giving you a written estimate for your possible project. Now that that’s out of the way, I want to talk about why I don’t like RFPs.

Jackson River - Annual Retreat

This week Jackson River took the entire team to Virginia Beach for our annual company retreat. Its such a nice change of pace to work face to face with everyone on the team. As a virtual company we focus on staying connected to each other through a variety of means (video chats, daily stand ups, weekly meetings, etc) and technology today allows us to do what was not possible 20 years ago.

New staff! Welcome Brian!

Working from the Houston, Texas "office" Jackson River is pleased to welcome Brian Pickett to our growing team. Brian will be on the Client Service team as a project manager but brings deep CRM and marketing experience. Prior to joining Jackson River he worked with nonprofits and businesses on strategic plans for marketing, sales, fundraising and relationship management as well as the strategic use of CRM, website and email marketing technology to achieve specific goals.

Happy Birthday!

Yep, thats right, April 1st (yes, we know that is April Fool's Day) marks the passing of another great year here at Jackson River! Jackson River experienced many changes in 2009 thanks to all our clients, partners, and friends. This year we focused on Drupal and Salesforce development and are happy to share the release of Springboard, an innovative nonprofit fundraising and marketing platform built in Drupal, and integrated with Salesforce.com.
