Here's what's happening in our world.
Jackson River would like to announce and welcome the newest member of the JR family, David Fells!
David has been developing web and server and applications for ten years with both Open Source and Microsoft technologies. He has largely focused on developing custom content management, CRM and ecommerce solutions throughout his career, and has a strong background in integration and user interface design. He previously worked for Wire Media Communications, a small firm working with non profits such as the ACLU and political action groups such as the Democratic National Convention.
Welcome to the team David!
The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) works to make women in developing countries an integral part of alleviating global poverty. The launch of ICRW's brand new Springboard-powered site -- ICRW.org -- not only showcases the depth of their research through robust library searches; it also illustrates the interconnectedness between their research, projects, and resulting policy. Streamlined information design then makes their content accessible to a broad, international audience.
A super shout out goes to the ICRW project team, Nancy Dimaio, Rob Manix, and Theresa Bucci -- who demonstrated how collaboration really can result in the best possible product.
We look forward to seeing ICRW leverage the power of their new site and online tools to continue their important work.
Jackson River is hiring! We are looking for many different levels of technical knowledge, so be sure to check out the positions. But keep in mind, we only want you to apply if you're funny, and preferably funnier than the 2005 movie that inspired the title of this post.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) migrated to Springboard in fall of 2009 to power all their online fundraising, website management, and petition needs. Since then, IRC has taken advantage of the advanced campaign reporting, metrics, and flexibility to create over 50 unique donation forms.
More importantly, the IRC has utilized these features to refine their online strategy and make informed, wise decisions about everything from donation form optimization to where to spend advertising dollars. We don't believe that your technology platform alone will cause your email list to triple in size overnight, but we do believe your technology shouldnt stand in your way and should empower you to smart strategic decisions over time based on performance data and metrics.
Today the IRC powers two websites, www.TheIRC.org and a virtual gift site located at www.fromharmtohome.org . Both sites are built with Springboard and run on one consolidated Salesforce.com instance. Additionally, plans are in the works to further consolidate other web properties into a unified platform.
As the IRC continues to grow, evolve, and innovate online Jackson River is proud to work with this talented and passionate team who continue to amaze us with how they have taken the Springboard platform and been able to use it in ways we never imagined.

Spring is in the air in San Francisco and with spring comes change, new life, and a renewed energy after a long winter. Spring has also come to Save The Bay's website - after an aggressive winter implementation we are proud to announce the launch of the new Springboard powered Save The Bay website.
Our congratulations to the entire Save The Bay team, with special Kudos to Eric Broder, Kate Dillon and Jessica Castelli for all their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to making this project a roaring success.
Here is what Save The Bay has to say about the process of adopting Springboard for CMS, CRM, Email, Volnteer Registration, and of course, Online Fundraising.
“Jackson River helped Save The Bay smoothly and successfully transition from our old web platform to Drupal and Salesforce an impressively short timeframe. I am thrilled to work with a technology firm that speaks the nonprofit language, while providing excellent strategic advice and top notch work. Jackson River is also trustworthy, dependable and fun!”

Yep, thats right, April 1st (yes, we know that is April Fool's Day) marks the passing of another great year here at Jackson River! Jackson River experienced many changes in 2009 thanks to all our clients, partners, and friends. This year we focused on Drupal and Salesforce development and are happy to share the release of Springboard, an innovative nonprofit fundraising and marketing platform built in Drupal, and integrated with Salesforce.com.
In addition, the Jackson River team has doubled in size this year and continues to innovate and explore new and exciting ways to bring enterprise technology solutions to nonprofits at an affordable price.
We want to thank everyone who has been a part of making 2009 such a wonderful year and experience, and we look forward to a rockin 2010!

Some of the many super cool aspects of the site...
- Jackson River's Drupal fundraising and market source modules powering the fundraising which you can see in action here.
- Integration with Npower's Grants Management Salesforce Application for LOI submission and Request management
- Integration with the salesforce non profit starter pack for donations, accounts and contacts
- other many cool features including a Google map of approved grants
All in all, a very complex, interesting and fun project for a great organization that powers many of the wonderful things happening on the ground in one of our favorite towns. Be sure to check out the site and maybe part with a little cash on behalf of our friends in Brooklyn.
Playworksusa.org Launches
It didn't quite take a village, but leveraging partnerships across the nonprofit sphere, Jackson River has launched a new site in support of children.
The new Drupal website, playworksusa.org, designed by our partners at Free Range Studios, announces the new Playworks brand and visual identity. Building upon Fenton Communication's strategic vision, the site catalyzes Playworks message of play as they continue their national recess rollout. With this new site, Playworks will create a more connected community of parents and educators who care about bringing play back into schools nationwide.
Jackson River’s interactive tools, including online recruitement, training requests, donation processing, spread the word, and local-targeted contact forms, will help streamline Playworks processes and allow them to focus on what they do best -- play!
